Almaty, Kazakhstan—After government officials destroyed thirteen homes of
Hindu families and sent men, women and children homeless into sub-freezing
temperatures in this Central Asian republic last week, members of the
International Society for Krishna Consciousness, ISKCON, a Vaishnava Hindu
movement, are fearing further attacks against their temple, and the
remaining homes of believers.

Have you heard that association with advanced devotees is of crucial importance for spiritual advancement?
What?
With great delight, we are inviting you to the first winter seminar that will take place in January 2007. at Adriatic coast. The subject, “The Nectar of Instruction” (Upadesamrta), will be lectured by H.H. Smita-Krishna Swami in a picturesque Žaborich village (close to Šibenik).
Still under impression of recent successful Japa retreat on the island of Brač, we decided to facilitate an interactive seminar in a rented house with the central heating. The house is capable of accommodating cca 35 devotees and has all necessary features for such a function (including the floor heating in a room that could serve as a temple-room. It is located on a beach and surrounded with holiday homes, which are usually vacant at that time. In front of the south sunny veranda – grow tangerines, which indicates pleasing winter Mediterranean days. Devotees will be accommodated largely in the surrounding apartments with decent heating facilities (for the ‘seminar house’ itself has insufficient number of rooms).

ALMATY (Reuters) - The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe criticised Kazakhstan on Monday for destroying part of a village housing Hare Krishna followers, calling the incident a form of religious intolerance.
The criticism comes at a time when the Central Asian nation is seeking to shore up Western support for its bid to become the first former Soviet state to take the helm of the OSCE in 2009.
